JOHN & SUSAN CAPPS, Owners

It’s easy to say “we sell quality products to recognize your patents, trademarks and copyrights”. But what does "quality products" mean to Patent Awards? Throughout our facility, you will see our commitment to quality. On the walls, in bathroom stalls, in the break room, it’s everywhere. This is what is says:

Our team is committed to on-time, error free delivery of products and services that meet or exceed customer expectations. We will work to build relationships with our customers and suppliers through process control, continuous improvement and teamwork to ensure that quality is never compromised.

But just hanging some words on a wall doesn’t mean anything if we don’t understand it or believe in it. What is said and what is done is often two very different things. Our team embraces our commitment to quality. In their own words, this is how...

    BRENDA DEARDORFF

I love helping you, our corporate customers; uncovering your needs and making your jobs easier. Having worked at Patent Awards for 10 years, I have learned to find errors and correct them before they reach the next steps in our processes. This ensures that the rest of our team can perform their tasks to create a quality product for you.

YOU are my first priority – “your wish is my command”. I don’t pretend to be a genie in a bottle, but do my best to ensure that your wishes come true. I am truly passionate to make your experience with us a remarkably excellent experience.

  JULIE WYSONG

I aspire to create a memorable experience and develop a lasting relationship with all our Patent Awards customers. I am responsible for assisting our inventors with orders, questions or referrals by phone, fax, online and US mail; understanding trademarks so that I can be an asset to our trademark registrants with award orders and display programs; and learn more about our corporate customers so that I can act as a support for maintaining, updating or implementation of a corporate intellectual property recognition awards program.

I am able to help answer questions or place orders with special art needs because I have worked in other areas of the business and this knowledge helps me to get answers to our customers efficiently and accurately.

My desire is for an award to be more than just an award – we want to present the hard work that one invests to get a patent or trademark and create a work of art that will be displayed with great pride by the inventor or the company.

  LUCRETIA HOMES

I do my best to wow the customer with the little details that make all the difference. Things like remembering a customer’s name and their order preference as well as going the extra mile whenever possible.

I help ensure customer satisfaction. This often entails a lot of things like making sure our individual customers are notified when their patent grants, making sure our customer care specialists have the tools they need to make our customers happy, as well as making sure that our products are consistently entered.

I absolutely love it when our customers tell me that they order from us simply because we make ordering easy and enjoyable. We do everything we can to get it right the first time!

  CATHY MILLER

As Accounting Manager for Patent Awards, my main connection with the customer is through sending out invoices when their product ships, mailing statements on a monthly basis and making payment arrangements over the phone. Some of the extra steps I take to enhance the customer relationship are setting up special payment methods, such as credit card payment, automatic bank drafts (ACH) or international transfer of funds (Wire Transfer).

I also provide special billing features, such as consolidating numerous invoices into one for easier submission on the customer’s part as well as providing supporting documentation to accompany the simpler version of invoices. Financial matters don’t have to be dull and boring. I like to add personality when touching the customer, further adding to the positive experience of working with Patent Awards.

  ANDY YORK

As a member of the Patent Awards’ team, my primary focus is leading and encouraging continuous improvement and working with team members to accomplish all types of improvements. I work with each team member to understand all of our processes to make improvements and create consistency so your customer experience is positive and memorable. I help our team grow the continuous improvement culture here at Patent Awards. I also lead the quality efforts of our team and manage our facility needs.

Our team members know that improvements are always possible and each person consistently possesses a “can do” commitment and support for improvement ideas in all areas of our company.

Our Patent Awards team always puts customers first. We value your feedback and it helps us to better serve you.

  CRISTINA OUSLEY

My goal is to create products that our customers will be proud to display.

Not only am I responsible for making sure that our marketing materials convey our products and services to the best of my ability, but I also create the artwork for our products. I do my best to create visually pleasing artwork that will illustrate a customer’s vision for their achievement so the final product can be a showcase piece for them to display. Along with designing artwork for our awards, I am also able to handcraft them, which allows me to work on the award from start to finish when necessary.

I ensure that all information is presented to the best of my ability. I am certain to call to attention anything that might create a negative experience for our customers. I want you to be happy with your award!

  NORMA MILLER

It is my desire to create artwork that is accurate, consistent and aesthetically pleasing to showcase your intellectual property achievements. Whether creating standard artwork or a customized piece, I clean images and verify all abstracts to make sure any noticeable errors are corrected. All artwork is treated individually and specific tolerances are maintained in order to best display that particular patent or trademark.

I also work with our Corporate Clients to implement solutions to make the management of Inventor Recognition programs effective and efficient. Every program is different, so I work with key decision makers and program administrators to understand the goals and objectives of their program and then work with IT professionals to create a custom service package that includes unique online program management tools. The end result is a unique, timely and effective recognition program that is extremely easy to manage.

  ANDY EMERICK

I take great care to ensure that all of your awards are consistently made whether you order weekly, quarterly, annually or longer.

I am responsible for making sure that all materials are in stock and maintain consistent quality. This means that the tone of the wood and the shade of the metal must stay within certain tolerances. I make sure our packaging will get your awards to you without any damage so that it looks great in your office or den.

    RODNEY BARNES

When I am working on your award, making a high quality award is the only thing I care about.

I am the main person that will handcraft your awards. When handcrafting our products, what matters most to me is that your award is handmade to your specifications. I say “handmade” because each award is made without any automated equipment.

I take extra care in following processes and quality check points to make sure I create your award right the first time. To ensure consistency, there are specific tolerances I stay within so that the metal and the imprinted artwork will always be straight and easy to read.
