1. This is a gift and I do not want to ruin the surprise. Do I have to give you my phone number or email address?
It is really helpful for us to have a way to contact you just in case we have any questions about your order. However, if you let us know that it is a gift and there is potential for ruining a surprise we will be very discreet if we have to contact you. Return to top
2. What is the best way to have their name appear when buying for someone else?
The majority of our customers include their middle initial. Another option is to request the name to appear exactly like it appears on the patent.

3. How do I know which metal to choose?
Both of the metals are popular…one metal is not more popular than the other. The aluminum metal (silver) and the brass metal (gold) are really a matter of preference. When purchasing a patent plaque or frame for a gift, think of the décor of the room the product will be displayed. Are there silver or gold accents? If you don’t know where it will hang, think about the jewelry he/she wears. Does he or she have a gold or silver watch/ring? The jewelry they wear might be indicative of their preference. If you still do not know what to order, sometimes it helps to think of the aluminum metal as more “modern” and the brass metal as more “traditional”. Return to top
4. When ordering a patent plaque, how do I know which wood to choose?
First, decide if you want a dark or a light wood. Think about the décor in the room that the product is going into. Walnut and cherry wood are the most popular and both go well with aluminum and brass. Return to top
5. When ordering a frame, how do I know which background color to choose?
The background color is best selected with the décor in mind or what looks best for the product. We try to feature the combination that is most popular/most pleasing to the eye in our brochure and on our website. For the modern cover design, the blue background color often brings out the blue border. For the historical cover design the black background color often compliments the ornamental design of this product.

6. Should I include the assignee (company) on the plaque?
Including the assignee is really personal preference. If the inventor still works for the assigned company and will hang the plaque at his office, including the assignee may be preferable. If the inventor will hang the plaque at home, we suggest including the assignee if he still works for and is highly committed to the company. If he no longer works for the assigned company, leave the assignee off.
